Billing and plans

You pay for the emails you send, not for your subscribers. Here is what each plan includes and how extra sends are billed.

The plans

Prices are per month, VAT excluded.

  • Free: €0. Build everything, 500 subscribers, 20 AI credits. No sends to subscribers: only tests to your team.
  • Starter: €19. 10,000 emails per month, 500 AI credits.
  • Pro: €49. 50,000 emails per month, 2,500 AI credits.
  • Scale: €99. 200,000 emails per month, 10,000 AI credits.
  • Agency: €199. 500,000 emails per month, 12,000 AI credits.

Paid plans store as many subscribers as you want. Only the Free plan has a limit: 500 subscribers per newsletter. Dormant contacts don't count toward it.

Billed per email sent

Each paid plan includes a number of emails per month. Test emails count too.

On a paid plan, sending goes on past that number. Each extra email costs €1 per 1,000, billed per email: 1,300 extra emails cost €1.30. A campaign is never cut mid-send.

To stop runaway costs, extra sends stop at 5 times the included volume by default.

The Free plan sends nothing to your subscribers. If you click Send or Schedule, you're asked to move to a paid plan. A scheduled campaign pauses: "the free plan doesn't send". After you move to a paid plan, click Resume. New signups wait for their confirmation email: it goes out after you move to a paid plan, if that happens within 7 days.

What each plan unlocks

  • Automatic sending on a schedule: Starter and up, like any send to subscribers.
  • Popups, banners and exit-intent lead magnets: Starter and up. Free uses the iframe mode.
  • Custom sending domains: Pro 5, Scale 15, Agency up to 200. Starter sends from <slug>@mail.smartletter.ai. Imported contacts need a custom domain to get your emails.
  • Subject A/B tests: Pro and up. See A/B tests.
  • Content sources (RSS, YouTube, Google News): Pro 12, Scale 40, Agency 100.
  • Sites: Free 1, Starter 5, Pro 15, Scale and Agency unlimited.
  • Team seats: Free 1, Starter 2, Pro 5, Scale and Agency unlimited.
  • Sequences: Free 1, Starter 3, Pro 20, Scale and Agency unlimited.
  • Webhooks: Starter 3, Pro 10, Scale 25, Agency 60.
  • AI agent inboxes: Starter 1, Pro 3, Scale 20, Agency 50.
  • Dedicated IP: a paid add-on for Scale and Agency.

AI credits

AI actions use credits from your monthly allowance:

  • A text request (a chat turn while writing, or a subject idea): 1 credit. It is refunded if the AI gives no valid answer.
  • An image: 2 credits (low quality), 5 (medium, the default) or 20 (high).
  • AI video: 90 credits per second. Video also has a monthly limit: Pro 60 seconds, Scale 200, Agency 400. Free and Starter have no video.

The AI calls during setup are free.

Change your plan

  1. Open Settings.
  2. In the Billing card, click View plans.
  3. Pick a plan and pay through Stripe.

Only the workspace owner can manage billing. Your current plan shows in the Workspace card of the settings page.
